A little recap of our first full month of spring as we head into the next:
Our event “April on the Ave” was a lovely success despite the cold, damp day that actually included a few snowflakes. We were able to raise some dollars for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and enjoy our friends Oh Shiny Art Glass and The Flower Girl, and treat our customers to a variety of goodies–the sweetest being the white chocolate desserts from Houdini’s Gastro Pub.
The month was electric with the anticipation of our spring event. It was energized by the enthusiasm of By Niche and Lindsey Higgins.
As if this wasn’t enough, the month was also filled with a host of interesting art encounters. Karen and our frame builder Steve Gilling were in Madison to install art in the new AC Marriott. Overlooking the Capitol, the building was modern, warm and breathtaking! It has ten floors and is topped off with a bar and restaurant complete with a smashing view. Thanks to Jan Cashin and NCG Hotels for bringing us into this installation.
While in Madison we met with a new artist (to us) Nicki Ross from N StarStudio and are happy to now be carrying her Kaleidoscope Pottery, a modern charcoal gray with a bright color pop interior and a dash a whimsy with hand dotted details. A very fun and happy new addition to our pottery lines.
We also were lucky to have our good friend Randy Flesch bring us a special framing job to celebrate “his Karen’s” run at the Boston Marathon. We combined the photos, runner’s bib, and her metal into the collage; then used the body blanket she received upon crossing the finish line as the dustcover to complete the shadow box framing. We were able to have his surprise gift ready in 3 days!
